May 15, 2013

The Fair Housing Council of Suburban Philadelphia is presenting a FREE fair housing training for HUD funded nonprofit housing agencies. The training will take place on Wednesday May 15th, 2013 from 10:00am - 12:00pm at FHCSP's office in Fort Washington.

This training will highlight the unique issues involved in serving communities and consumers with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and guidance for HUD-funded housing programs. Attendees will receive information on the various LEP populations in our region; barriers LEP consumers face in obtaining housing; eligibility for various Federal housing programs; and language resources to assist nonprofits and local governments serving LEP families and consumers. The training will also include a review of information on fair housing laws as they relate to LEP populations and the discriminatory housing practices commonly reported by immigrants and refugees in their search for housing.
