LGBT discrimination in HUD programs prohibited

HUD issued a final rule on February 3, 2012, requiring equal access to housing in HUD programs without regard to sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status. The rule makes clear that the term 'family'� includes LGBT individuals and couples as eligible beneficiaries of HUD's public housing and voucher programs. The rule applies to rental assistance and homeownership programs' including FHA mortgage insurance programs, community development programs and public and assisted housing programs.
